What plans do we have to advance Penn Medicine in FY 14 and beyond? How we will afford to fund these new initiatives?

J. Larry Jameson, MD, PhD
Executive Vice President, University of Pennsylvania for the Health System;
Dean, Perelman School of Medicine
Over the past year we have engaged numerous faculty and staff through an inclusive process to develop a five year strategic plan. Our strategic plan for Penn Medicine is to
shape the future of medicine through innovation, integration and impact with three galvanizing themes of enabling systems; catalyzing culture; and pioneering faculty. Within the plan we have identified specific new initiatives to be implemented over the next five years that position Penn Medicine to:
  • Lead in Delivering Individualized Medicine
  • Realize Penn Medicine’s Potential for Innovation
  • Enrich the Life of Our Faculty and Staff through Diversity and Flexibility
  • Impact Health Outcomes Locally and Globally

The Penn Medicine Community is like any family or business. We make financial decisions based upon the resources we have available to us—and then prioritize how we will spend those resources in the best interest of the organization. This is how we have always funded new initiatives in the past.
